William Bushey Charged with Murder After Fatal Shooting at Point Loma Home

William Bushey, 60, was arrested following a tragic shooting at his home in Point Loma, California, which left two people dead and his elderly mother injured. The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon, shortly before 4 p.m., at Bushey’s residence on the 3600 block of Zola Street, close to Point Loma High School.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found Bushey outside his home, holding a shotgun. He was taken into custody without further incident. Inside the house, police discovered two individuals, a man and a woman, both critically injured and later pronounced dead at the scene. The victims are believed to be in their 30s and 60s. Bushey’s mother, who is in her 80s, was also found injured and was transported to a hospital, where she is currently in stable condition and expected to recover.

Authorities have yet to disclose the motive behind the shooting or the relationships between Bushey and the victims. The San Diego Police Department revealed that officers had been called to Bushey’s home twice in the week leading up to the shooting, but his behavior, though verbally aggressive, did not meet the criteria for an emergency psychiatric hold.

William Bushey has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder. He remains in custody at San Diego Central Jail without bail, with his arraignment scheduled for Friday afternoon.

The tragic incident has sparked discussions on social media. David Mark Chambliss commented on Facebook, "Good call," in response to the news of the police’s prior visits to Bushey’s residence.

As the investigation continues, the community remains shocked and concerned about the events that unfolded in the typically peaceful neighborhood of Point Loma.
