Windsor, NC—The Windsor community is mourning the loss of Daniel Ray Dortch, who passed away on August 13, 2024. Daniel, known affectionately as "Danny," left an indelible mark on the lives of those who knew him. His passing has deeply affected his family, who remember him as someone who lived life to the fullest and loved deeply.
Danny’s niece, Emry Daniel, has organized a fundraiser to assist with the expenses related to his final farewell. The family is seeking support to cover the costs of the funeral services and the travel expenses necessary for family members to say their goodbyes. The funeral is planned for August 26, 2024, in Windsor, North Carolina.
As of today, the fundraiser has raised $110 of its $5,000 goal, with generous contributions from Jane Johnson, who donated $50, Elizabeth Jaro, who also donated $50, and an anonymous donor who contributed $10. The family is grateful for the support received so far, but they still need additional help to reach their goal.
Emry Grace, one of Danny’s family members, shared her sorrow on Facebook, writing, "RIP Uncle Danny Ray Dortch. You lived life to the fullest, you loved hard, and you will be fiercely missed." The post has received an outpouring of support, with friends and family members offering their condolences and prayers.
Elizabeth Amran Jaro commented, "Love you! Keeping you & your family in my prayers," to which Emry responded with gratitude, "Thank you honey, I love you." Another friend, Lorie Slate-Pedrotti, expressed her sympathy by saying, "I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you all."
In this time of grief, the family is asking for any help, whether it be donations, thoughts, or prayers, to support them as they navigate this difficult period. Any remaining funds after covering expenses will be donated to a veterans charity in Danny’s honor, recognizing his service and dedication to his fellow military brothers and sisters.
We extend our deepest condolences to the Dortch family. May Danny’s memory be a source of comfort and strength in the days ahead. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
