Darryl Hunt, Lakes Region Community Mourns the Loss of a Beloved Member

Darryl Hunt, a cherished and long-time resident of the Lakes Region, passed away on the evening of Thursday, August 15th, surrounded by his loving wife, Barbara, and their three children. He was 61 years old. Darryl was a fixture in the community for over 50 years, known for his skilled craftsmanship and warm personality. Whether he was building chimneys and patios, holding doors at Shawnee Peak, or fixing water services in the Knights Hill Association, Darryl left a lasting impact on everyone he met.

Darryl had been battling Stage 3 Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma since September 2023. Despite undergoing an experimental T-cell treatment that initially showed promise, the cancer returned in the form of a brain tumor. After months of grueling treatments, Darryl lost his courageous battle on his birthday.

The resurgence of Darryl’s illness made it difficult for his wife, Barbara, to maintain consistent work, leaving the family in dire need of financial assistance for funeral and residual medical expenses. To honor Darryl’s memory, Ashley Hunt has organized a fundraiser with a goal of $10,000 to help cover these costs. So far, $570 has been raised from generous donors, including Faith Scott, Bruce and Barbara Hunt, and Lawrence Wescott.

The community has expressed their sorrow and support through heartfelt messages on Facebook. Tracy Virgin and others shared their memories and condolences, highlighting the deep connection Darryl had with those around him.

Darryl Hunt will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of kindness and dedication will continue to live on in the hearts of the Lakes Region community.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Darryl’s family during this difficult time.
