A dedicated mother who raised five children mostly on her own, Doris was known for her strength, resilience, and deep love for her family. Despite only having a sixth-grade education, she worked tirelessly to provide for her children, often putting their needs above her own.
Doris’s life was a testament to her commitment to her family. She fought hard to keep her family together, even after facing significant challenges. Her children—Gustaivous Lane, Anthony Lane, Antwine Lane, Doris Lane, and Reginald Lane—are now doing everything they can to honor her memory and give her the farewell she deserves.
The Lane family has started a fundraiser to cover the costs of Doris’s burial. So far, $20 has been raised out of the $15,000 goal, thanks to a donation from Gale Lynn Humphrey. The family is facing a financial burden, including $1,100 in debt with the funeral home, and they are appealing to the community for help to ensure that Doris can be laid to rest peacefully.
Doris was known for her kindness and willingness to help others. She would often give rides to those in need, even if they were strangers, and assist them in understanding how to access government support. Her dedication to her family and community will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
