Luke Pearlberg, a close friend and fellow Broadway enthusiast, shared his thoughts on Facebook, saying, "Been trying to find the words all day for the kindest, warmest, most welcoming staple of Broadway, Jim Barry. Jim had a way to make you feel like he’d known you for years, even from the day you met him. His capacity for care, for those he knew well, and those he didn’t know at all, was unparalleled. Above and beyond, not only for the guests coming into, what is frankly, his house at the St. James, but also in his willingness to be a friend. The lights on Broadway are definitely dimmed. Rest easy, Jim."
In honor of Jim’s legacy, a GoFundMe campaign was created by Katie Nascenti to support his wife, Maryann, known affectionately as “Dimples,” and their family during this difficult time. The fundraiser, titled "Honoring the Legacy of Jim Barry: A Theatre Icon," has raised $730 so far, with donations from Andria Acunis, Brian Busby, Jill Weissman, Sarah Wrigley, and Sam Obreiter, among others. The campaign aims to reach $10,000, with any additional funds potentially being used to memorialize Jim within the theatre district.
