Matthew Zheng, Ellicott City, MD—The community is mourning the unexpected passing of Matthew Zheng, whose life and legacy have left an indelible mark on those who knew him. At just 25 years old, Matt was a loving friend, brother, and son, whose gentle nature and passion for music and animals resonated deeply with everyone he encountered.
Matthew was a talented musician who dedicated much of his time to community music programs, where he mentored young students across the county. His love for the performing arts and his commitment to sharing that passion made him a cherished figure in his community. Matt was also known for his deep affection for animals, especially his dog, Luna, with whom he spent countless hours at the local dog park.
In memory of Matthew, a fundraiser has been organized by Aileen Yu to honor his legacy. The funds raised will be directed towards OrchKids, a program dedicated to providing youth in Baltimore with access to high-quality music education, a cause close to Matt’s heart. Additionally, a memorial bench will be placed at Worthington Dog Park in Ellicott City, where Matt frequently visited with Luna.
So far, $150 has been raised towards the $5,000 goal, thanks to the contributions of generous donors, including Saffiyah Madraswala, Anonymous, and Oliver Wu. The community’s support is a testament to the love and respect Matt inspired in those around him.
Matthew’s quiet kindness, patience, and unwavering care for others will be deeply missed. His influence will continue to live on through the lives he touched and the causes he cared for most.
We are deeply saddened to hear of Matthew Zheng’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
