Paul Keagan Jaravata—fondly known as Keagan—passed away last September after a tragic skateboarding accident. His passing has left a profound impact on the Mount St. Mary’s community, where he was a cherished member of the Class of 2024.
Keagan’s friends and classmates have taken the initiative to honor his memory by organizing a fundraiser to place a memorial stone at the Terrace in his name. Meghan Fleming, who is leading this effort, has raised $240 of the $1,000 goal so far, with contributions from Emily Case, Michele Case, Jonathan Presti, and John Sanick.
The news of Keagan’s passing has prompted an outpouring of support on social media. Charles L. Thompson and Michele Pinto Case, among others, have shared their heartfelt condolences on Facebook. Michele, a member of the Mount St. Mary’s Class of ’93, reflected on how much Keagan meant to her daughter, who was his roommate.
The love and respect Keagan garnered during his time at Mount St. Mary’s are evident in the community’s efforts to ensure his memory lives on. The proposed plaque at the Terrace will serve as a lasting tribute to a young man whose life touched so many.
We are deeply saddened by the loss of Paul Keagan Jaravata. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and the entire Mount St. Mary’s community during this difficult time.
