William Eckert, Kenosha, WI Community Remembers a Cherished Soul

William Eckert, Kenosha, WI—William Eckert, affectionately known as "Mr. Bill," passed away on Sunday, August 18th, 2024. His family and the community are coming together to remember the kind-hearted man who always had a joke to share or a helping hand to offer, despite his own struggles.

William had been living in a nursing home for the past few years due to the increasing difficulties he faced with his health. He experienced frequent falls, one of which resulted in a brain bleed, making it necessary for him to have constant care. Even so, William’s stubborn independence meant he rarely asked for help, embodying a spirit of resilience and determination.

His daughter, Kari Eckert, has organized a GoFundMe campaign to cover the costs of his cremation. William had expressed his wish to be cremated, and Kari is determined to honor his request. The fundraiser aims to raise $4,000 to cover the cremation, funeral home services, and associated fees. So far, $335 has been raised through the generosity of five donors.

Kari expressed her deep gratitude for any support, emphasizing that every contribution, no matter how small, is appreciated. She also acknowledged those who might not be able to contribute financially, encouraging them to share extra love with their own families in William’s memory.

The community has shown its support through touching messages on social media. William’s granddaughter, Mackenzie Penfold, shared a heartfelt tribute, calling him her "guardian angel" and recalling how he always believed in her, even when she doubted herself.

As the family prepares to lay William to rest, they are comforted by the outpouring of love and memories shared by those who knew him. A celebration of life will be held at a later date, where friends and family will gather to share stories and remember the man who touched so many lives.

We extend our deepest condolences to the Eckert family during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you navigate this profound loss.
